胡適日記全集 7: 1934-19391934.4.3葉浩吾 周年祭 叶瀚 撰兩書: 种新理论格致理法纲要1934.4.1?記二十三歲的 申尚贤（1909~1996年），笔名寿生，务川县城 人。6岁启蒙读私塾，16岁赴贵阳考入一中就读，民国18年（1929年）去北平，考入汇文中学高中部学习。几次考北大，国文成绩优异，因数学不达标而落 选。北大文学院教授为他惋惜，特收他为旁听生。“一二·九”学生爱国运动，申尚贤积极参加北大队伍示威游行。除在北大听几节课外，成天泡在图书馆里专心读 书。1933年下半年，申尚贤开始文学创作，他的文章用笔名寿生在《独立评论》、《国闻周报》、北大《歌谣周刊》等报刊上发表。在《独立评论》上发表的论 文、小说、诗歌等多篇，为当时的名流学者叫好。
申尚贤，笔名寿生(1909～1996年)，遵义务川自治县人。20世纪30年代贵州省活跃在北京的著名现代文学作家，创作的小说和时评作品深得胡适等学者肯定，在中国现当代文学史上有着重要地位。
寿生小说创作主要是短篇，作品的思想和艺术水准足以与同时代的乡土小说家们并肩媲美。他的小说内容写的全是家乡一带的人与事，展示20世纪30年代川黔地区军阀混战、兵匪横行、民不聊生“特殊生活风貌”，有艰辛和衰败的生活、冷酷和野蛮的习俗。笔下人物的性格和心理总有着特异之处，陈述和慨叹令人动情。在黔北方言味极浓、传神的叙说中，隐现着“哀其不幸，怒其不争”的乡愁，沉重的阴霾和强烈的愤懑。尤其表现在《过去，现在，未来》、《黑主宰》等小说中。
除从事小说创作和时评外，寿生还积极致力于民间歌谣的研究，曾多次在《歌谣周刊》上发表研究文章和所搜集记录的贵州民间故事、歌谣和山歌，具有一定的文献价值。
《寿生文集》已由贵州人民出版社出版发行。
