修正版1990年
此書可能因為無人幫助胡頌平 或過於謹慎
所以未能將1985 北京/香港出版胡適的日記的諸多內容補進
(中國社會科學院近代史研究所中華民國史研究室編：《胡適的日記》，香港：中華書局，1985年9月。 (胡适的日记（上下）1985年1月初版初印 ))
很可惜
可是 中華書局的胡適的日記 究竟刪多少不知道
又譬如說 1937/8/2 以後的一月都缺 而引China and Japan at war, 1937-1945: the politics of collaboration - Google 圖書結果 John Hunter Boyle - 1972 - History - 430 頁 書名翻譯為"中日戰爭期間的通敵內幕"有點過火....



的中譯本中 問題很多 胡稱"低調同志" 為3人
該書引的8/6日記是 1955年中共內部資料

胡適的日記1937年1月17/18 日 (與湯錫予的玩笑，也很有意思)。
胡適認為：佛教傳中土的三可能路線: 北方/蜀/海路等等，湯錫予只認為經北方陸路，而後兩者是胡適認為可能的---都是很重要而合理的假設。
