記陶希聖登在中央日報登在中央日報文末捏造一則富蘭克林的故事，陶說期九十幾歲參加美國制憲，他弄不清楚Benjamin Franklin 只活了八十四歲零三個月 (January 17, 1706 [O.S. January 6, 1705]^[1] – April 17, 1790) was an American polymath and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.

(Wikipedia   Franklin strongly supported the right to freedom of speech:

In those wretched countries where a man cannot call his tongue his own, he can scarce call anything his own. Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech ... Without freedom of thought there can be no such thing as wisdom, and no such thing as public liberty without freedom of speech, which is the right of every man ...

譬如說，其一，報導法國的天主教的聖母奇蹟之迷信不可消滅，報導無踏伐，胡適說，如此"容忍"宗教/迷信，是很不可及的。

其二，胡適關心voting machine，無記名投票
現在Wikipedia 的相關條目，比胡適當年地更豐富，譬如是英國1838發明的，不是澳洲1856的，
